My one word this week is ‘uptempo’ we don’t have it in attack or defence. We play too passive most weeks, but to be honest we don’t have the impact players to be not passive.
@joel thanks and yes undercoach. Are we coach at all??
I thought for 20 minutes we looked coached and were generally sticking with them, but after then the wheels fell off.
true but we seem to have too many reserve graders playing first grade and rushing young players into grade ahead of their time. Benji just doesn't appear to be getting the job done as a coach in the 2 and half years he has been in charge. We are not playing smart footy.
I’ll say it again but I don’t think Latu is a 7 or we can’t wait for his apprenticeship.
One word “starch”. We lacked it. Seen more in my grandmas laundry. We just don’t have that punch do we. In saying that we don’t really dent the line to set up a nice back line play when the defenders try and reshuffle their line.
what he have in reality is Twal hitting it up, finding his back then out the back line for Luai to throw it back inside to Seyfarth who couldn’t crumble a cookie. And that’s our biggest play. Just not good enough.
To be positive though, how bloody good is Turuva. Does he go unnoticed?? He gives 300% every game. So lucky to have him. He hits the line with meaning and passion every bloody time.
Massive negative is get rid of Starford please. He is so overrated but how? Yes he has scored some good try’s with his power but everything else stinks. Too slow to react every game. Then he has Skelton on the outside of him it’s a massive liability.
One word: orange
to quote the great Warren Ryan “there’s no juice left in the orange”

Squeezed dry.
Pretty sad to see that the most threatening and physically imposing player in the team is two games back from an 18 month rest.

@joel I suppose the frustration is rising to the surface , I desperately want to support all the team but there comes a time when the reality of the situation is there for all to see.The forward pack needs to change up that’s a no brainer the backs look ok at this stage . Richo needs to take control of this situation and if Marshall wants to road block show him the door as well ! I am sure Richo has a replacement lined up to coach as even us novices can see there is major coaching issue. You look at what Ryles has done at the Eels in such a short time just reflects the poor coaching the Tigers are being inflicted with .

I agree. I think we need to really thoroughly review this season and the way the side is prepared and coached.

People can harp on about the lack of coaching, but that argument is rendered void if one considers the absence of a couple of high impact hard-hitting forwards here at the moment. It has precious little to do with coaching and instruction, and everything to do with a shortfall in the roster. If Liam Martin was playing for us last night and Samuela is not injured it’s easy to foresee a much closer contest. When there is no platform being laid up front you can dispense with the coaching manual and resort to desperation measures.
As far as I can see a Wayne Bennett or a Craig Bellamy would have made precious little difference to the outcome last night where we were lacking, but never threw in the towel.
Ultimately we just have to remain calm, stop the over emotional tantrums after a loss, the squawking and squealing for a scapegoat, stay the course and remain committed to the blueprint. As difficult as it might seem the process still requires patience, understandably something in short supply amongst us but nonetheless an ironclad necessity if we’re to continue to rise.Calm solidarity and resolve, less histrionics and reactive emotion.

@tiger-symmetry totally agree. Two hard hitting robust forwards, another gun centre and the return of Bula and Samuela then we’d be looking at a completely different team.
Hopefully it’s not too late to turn Royce into that player we signed him for.
Once we get some impact in the forwards and our back line back then we can see if Benji is the coach for us or not. Hopefully he is.
Just need to tweak the roster a bit more but in the meantime this is the sort of performance I expect.
@tiger-symmetry Just referring to emotional tantrums after a loss is that recent losses or 2 wooden spoons and the possibility of a third spoon under Marshall as a coach . There is no scapegoat here that horse has bolted there is no reactive emotion this is called failure and entrenched mediocrity , Marshall as coach has failed that’s the reality move on to next season for ground hog day unless he miraculously changes his attitude and finally surrounds himself with professionals that’s my opinion ,my comments are not reactive comments over a loss this is my opinion for years of failure !
If Payten gets the boot at the end of the season ( rumours to be happening with Josh Hannay taking over)I’d definitely be trying to get him here. The only problem is his manager.
