Rounds 6 to 8 would have to be when you start making decisions.

Make or break time for this coach.

I reckon our attack looked good for first 20 minutes when Peachey was jumping in to first receiver. Centres weren’t getting early ball but back rowers were and were making yardage.

my concern was our inability to win the ruck. Post contact yardage seemed poor whilst manly were getting down the field easily

Lets be realistic we were missing a few really important players imo. Take turbo out of manly and they are ordinary. We dont have a turbo and arent their standard which means missing douhei, laurie and (time will tell a 5/8 in hastings) we were always going to struggle.

Ah The Brooks bashers are already circling like vultures.Premature ejaculators!Surely a little restraint might be observed at this point of the season, but for some it would seem has become agenda based, and they are unable to control themselves. You can produce your daggers and twist them when it counts in the season proper.Go hard then!

It is trial no.1 for God’s sake.A little perspective perhaps?

Are you serious? It's been one trial game and we are already talking about sacking coaches?

Out of interest how many wins would madge need after 6 or 8 rounds to keep his job?

Because we play last year's top 8 team 4 times in the first 6 rounds and 5 times in the first 8 rounds.

So I very well expect us to be 2 from 6 and 3 from 8.

Gus says you can't judge a team until everyone plays each other once.

If we are going to sack madge after 6 games - it would of been much better to sack him last year - which they didn't.

It's still early in the season, I'm giving the team my full support and understand its a long game in turning this place around. Quick fixes only appear over cracks and end with long term issues

i thougt Toa looked good, i would like to see him in the centres with Gildart tbh..what frustrates me we just cant get the ball wide to centres or wingers, is it Brooks and Maddens fault, im not sure but for the last few years we cant get decent ball to our outside  backs.  First few rounds for Madge will be huge, if we dont change our attacking and defence structures he is a goner!!  From what i saw last night were in massive trouble.  If we have a bright bunch of Juniors coming through, Manlys look twice as good as ours.  We have no size compared to the Sea Eagles young stars, i know its only one trial but this could be a very long year

I honestly think the hardest thing as a fan is to big picture the season. We often bag a bloke for 1 poor game or over praise a good one. The realism for us is imo, we haven't added much really our team will still have the issues it had last year. It comes down to whether or not we make enough of an improvement in those (defensive) areas to reduce the poi T's we have to chase each week. From that trial our starters looked alot better defensively then last year

If we’re 0 or 1 from 8 I don’t think the club has much choice.

I think we all want to be positve. I will cheer myself hoarse from the first minute to the last however in my heart I would have more hope if we saw something a bit different in terms of selections /tactics.

Some of the headscratchers from last night

Star Toa - is he named on the left wing and indication that he is our backup winger? He played right centre second half. Id have thought he is of better use to us at right centre assuming Kenny is fit?

Second row - I cant see the logic behind any recruitment or selections subsequently. LL seems to be a lock to play on the right side. Does this mean we are going to see Kelma again on the left next week? How long have Seyfarth and Tuki been training for an edge position? They both played edge second half but dont appear to have the body type /conditioning to play long minutes? If Garner or Blore had been fit last night where would they have fit in? Just seems to be a lack of planning

In regards to tactics the discernable difference to last year (as others have stated) was Peachey distributing to the halves from first receiver and also some more emphasis on middle forwards passing before the line. Theres heaps of teams doing this and my view is that we won't compete with top sides by copying their tactics because our players are less talented individually.

I would have liked to have seen more coaching around offloads in the summer. We don't have many forwards who can get over the advantage line and secure a quick ptb however there is an offload in the likes of Tamou, Leilua, Musgrove, Stefano and Tuki.

Agree totally re Madge. He's got to try something considerably different if he is going to save his job. He seems as though he's going to stick loyal with players that havent really delivered for him so far which is suprising.

I wonder what Sheens thought of that performance...

You have to wonder what they've been doing all offseason.

avo there probably doing what the coaches are telling them to do and following the head coach game plan, need I say more
