Wests Tigers Put Eels to the Sword in Round Two

Eddie, Garry, Nick and Declan with a post-win edition of the pod!

How great is it to see our Wests Tigers back in the winners circle!

Round 2 of NRL Season 2025 has been completed and the Wests Tigers have their first victory of the season, smacking the hapless Eels 32-6.

There can be a break down or two on the Wests Tigers Podcast, however the only break down this time around is breaking down a victory!

Eddie Otto is joined by Declan McCutcheon, Nick Hayes and Garry Watson as they take a deep dive into the 26-point win over Parra at CommBank Stadium.

Eddie looks at the ‘one word’ submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, and then the boys give their one-word answers.

The team then discusses the differences in the Tigers between Round 1 and Round 2.

Has Wests Tigers defense turned a corner?

The boys put the improved defence we’ve seen so far this season under the microscope and ask is this a genuine improvement?

Or is the significant drop in points conceded down to the quality of the opposition the Tigers have faced in the opening 2 rounds?

There is also a conversation about individual player performance. Will any of the podcast team eat some humble pie with the improved performances on display yesterday?

Not surprisingly, the performance of the Wests Tigers spine is also looked at, and the differences that we witnessed in style and execution compared to the loss to the Knights.

Finally, Eddie delivers a message for a former Wests Tigers player, who caught Eddie’s wrath this week? We’ll give you a clue – he’s not in the crocodile roll!

Thank you for tuning in to another edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and what a pleasure it is to be talking about a victory.

And a shout out to all the Wests Tigers fans leaving their ‘one word’ wrap up of each Tigers match on the forum, we appreciate it!

  1. After a contested first 20mins we dominated the game. The difference this week was the brilliance of Bula. API was a huge inclusion controlling our ruck efficiency bringing our forwards on to the ball smoothly and linking with Luai and Galvin. Special mentions to Star Toa and Adam in the centres and Terrell May and Sam Fainu in the forwards. Injuries will cruel us though and I see this as the only barrier to the top eight.

  2. Finally we are marking up better. Normally we have both markers jammed up against each other and the opposition. We were a metre back on each other. Covers the darts from dummy half.Lets us spread better to defend edges. Very impressed with Toa and Turuva combination in attack and defence.

  3. Agreed, Hetherington would have been a very valuable add to the pack. Seyfarth is a toiler but just isn’t a damaging option. Back row needs some juice and let’s hope Taylan is added this week. Spine is shaping up nicely.
Superb effort keep it up let’s stack those wins!
