Totaaly agree VoR love his running game ....love his spirals ...love his passion for the club ...but think his best position is centre and we can't be paying 700-800 k for a centre who isn't at Turbo or Manu levels

I had a look at our performances last year when AD played. When he was:

at 6, we won two, lost 6 and averaged 18.25 points

at centre we won two, lost two and averaged 30.5 points

He could become a 6 with a lot of work, but I feel he's a centre right now.

.I take your point re his fullback play where he was positionally unsound.I’ve maintained he tends to hold the ball and overplays his hand,and his lateral defence has been a bit shaky at times.He can sort that out.You’re right,he ain’t no quicksilver Munster,quite the opposite,but he does possess skill,size and passion,goes right into the line and breaks it consistently.I’m not expecting instant miracles coming back from the ACL but would be nice to see him unlock Daine or the Jet and let the ball do the talking.

This is a very fair and accurate assessment and pretty much aligns with my position.

I genuinely hope we can find a spot where he shines but in my eyes it's going to be 3, 4 or 14 ( although he's not a 'spark the attack' style of 14, more a 'cover every position' type.)

I see him as a Gene Miles, Jack Wighton, Talakia sort of centre - not overly fast but runs hard and can break the line. Realistically Naden is going to be the 'speed' in the centres so having a tall, bullocking runner works for me.

I'm not devaluing or writing him off. What I'm saying is we signed him as a fullback (on fullback money) and he was poor. Now we have to 'find' a position for him. My personal opinion is he doesn't have the build/speed/skill set to be a good 6 so that leaves centre, forwards or utility. If he was a natural 6 we wouldn't be having this discussion.

If he plays 6 and goes well I'm happy for him to play there - I just don't see it happening unless he significantly changes his style. He may have moments, but we need a Munster type player who's a whole game, every game star. He wasn't the most mobile player to start with and he'll be less so now I suspect.

@celtic_tiger 1.5 to 1.7 million to spend on a Burton or Munster or Manu or Brown if you offload Douhie and Brooks. 

Douhie is not a 6, he was signed as a fullback remember from souths

Brooks well has not lived up to the hype 

Hastings is the 7 you build around with Api at 9

 

 

 

Would douhie make the starting 1 or 6 at either south’s or easts where he was previously? I doubt it very much. He is capable of 6 at Wests and our alternatives are limited but compared to a Burton or another genuine 6 he hasn’t shown that he is a top 8 #6 in my view (happy to be proven wrong). The one time we have look threatening in attack this year has been the Hastings/brooks/Laurie right to left sweep play to deliver the overlap on our left. My guess is douhie is too slow to work that particular play. Maybe he can bring other threats but as noted I don’t see him creating enough for those around him to be our long term option IMHO

How many of our players would make the south’s or easts starting lineup? Zero

And I was the one up in arms when the club left him hobbling around Browne Park In Rocky with a what turned out being ruptured ACL doing post match interviews

If it was a conversation between AD and Matt Burton I would understand why people would want Doueihi to play centre but if it’s between him and Brooks then the decision should be a simple one. The only reason that it isn’t is because Brooks is on a huge contract. On the merits of both players, Doueihi has shown he’s a better 6. 

The other big concern is Douehi is one ACL injury from being a 600 k boat anchor ...not supposed to sound awful ...but thats the case unfortunately 

As with every player who plays NRL,your next game can potentially be your last......Taniela Tuiaki,Simon Dwyer,spring to mind,and didn’t that throw us into turmoil given how talented they both were.

Especially Dwyer ...that superstar second rower we craved ..would have killed for

This is key for me although often overlooked.

We buy players for a position and when they don't work out we try to manufacture them into something they're not. I really like AD; I think he's good player with a genuine passion for the club but if he doesn't play fullback we've failed both him and the team. We're now left trying to accomodate someone who 'failed' in their chosen position. Now he's saying he's not a fullback he's a 6??

AD was already too slow to pair with Hastings and I don't see it improving after a second ACL. He either plays a position to the benefit of the team or moves on. For mine if he can't compete in the position for which he was signed he's now a utility.

The club fails because we won't make hard decisions and have historically let the players dictate terms. It's been long enough - it's time to HTFU.

by all means given him an opportunity at 6 with Hastings at 7. If he is what the coach wants then great, but as much I love ADs passion for the club I don’t like his statements in the press that he “wants to play in the halves”. By all means fight for your spot and have a competitive mindset but the coach should be the one to pick the team and litigating this in the press is not good for the coach, team or club. If the coach wants you to play in the centres and another team wants you as a 6 then sign with that club at the end of your contract but when employed by this club, you should be doing what the coach wants. That is the mindset and culture that all our players should have

I agree with this.

His footy smarts aren't great and as someone said elsewhere, he seems to pre-meditate moves which leads to poor decisions - like the repetitive long balls to Nofo when they're not on or when he runs straight and hard but blinkered to players in a better position.

He has the making of a good, perhaps even elite, centre. Ala Rowdy in his prime.

I believe before Adam is devalued and derided it might be a good idea for people to allow him some game time before writing him off.He’s shown his talent wherever and whenever he’s played,going back to his Lebanon debut.Let him find his feet after his rehab and allow him to grow.He doesn’t deserve negation after barely 15 minutes game time.
